What does an already busy real estate office do on Monday following a week that had an east coast earthquake and a hurricane? I have compiled a list.
First, we thank Mother Nature for not being too hard on us. Cape May, an island at the southern tip of New Jersey, was supposed to be slammed with the storm of the century. Thankfully, only a few of us lost power and flooding was quite minimal. There are a few downed tree limbs, but mostly sticks and leaves. We were very fortunate.
Secondly, we have been checking on people’s homes, since we were under a mandatory evacuation. All the homes I have seen made it through just fine. Most homes do have electric and the vacation rentals have been cleaned up and patio furniture put back out. Good to go.
Thirdly, and most important, we have been putting everyone’s mind at ease. Both homeowner’s and vacationers are anxious to know how Cape May fared. Honestly, Cape May is cleaned up and ready to go. I will be going to the beach later today. It is 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Cape May truly is in a bubble that protects us from the economy and natural disasters.
